Artist Colleen's Portrait Raffle & Pink Tractor Fun Day Raises £2085.75 for IWCT

The Pink Tractor Fun Day in Wisbech has always been a very popular event in the Wolfhound calendar and this year was no exception. On Sunday 6th August the weather was kind and the sun shone down on the Pink Tractor field, and a host of dog owners attended to show their dogs in a wide variety of classes ranging from novelty to pedigree and dedicated Wolfhound classes, all to help raise money for several worthy animal causes. The event organised by Judi Ferrbert, a well-known figure in our breed, and she is ably assisted behind the scenes by a battalion of helpers who all give a great deal of their time to ensure that the show goes off without a hitch. This year Judi had picked four causes to benefit from the proceeds of the show: Ravenswood Pet Rescue, Sunshine Therapeutic Riding School, PAWS (Practical Aid for Wolfhounds) and the IWCT  (Irish Wolfhound Charitable Trust).  This year the Pink Tractor Fun Day and associated raffle have raised more than £2500 -  an absolutely breathtaking amount!
In addition to money raised from dogs being entered into classes, the IWCT’s resident artist, Colleen Ellis, also donated a recently completed portrait of Gordon (Ch. Hydebeck Imperial Ruler JW). Which was raffled in the run up to the show and the winning ticket, drawn live at the show.  The raffle raised a staggering £1854 for the IWCT, which was an impressive result in itself.  The final total was then added to by a share of the proceeds from the Pink Tractor Day, plus a hugely generous donation made by Rosie Walters from her handmade crafts and rosettes stall, taking the final total for the Irish Wolfhound Charitable Trust to £2085.75.

On behalf of all the trustees of the IWCT, we would like to convey our sincere gratitude to all those that helped raise this money, and every penny will go towards supporting Irish Wolfhounds and Wolfhound related causes here in the UK. Our beloved breed is extremely fortunate to have such dedicated fundraisers and such generous supporters.
There were two show rings on the Pink Tractor field to accommodate Pedigree, Crossbreed, Wolfhound and Novelty classes. This year the pedigree classes, the novelty classes and Best in Show were judged by Sylvia Court, and the crossbreed classes judged by Jan Charles,  Barbora Bridges completed the judge's lineup by judging the Irish Wolfhound classes. I know you will all join us in extending our thanks to the lovely judges, especially Sylvia, who also have given up their time and travelled a fair distance to help make the day a success. It is often said that it is not the winning, but the taking part that matters and certainly that adage applies to this type of fun dog show with everyone who attends thoroughly enjoying the day and helping to raise funds for such fantastic causes.

Last, but by no means least, the IWCT would like to extend their formal thanks to Judi Ferrbert, Colleen Ellis and Rosie Walters for their titanic generosity, unceasing dedication and devotion and their limitless energy in support of our beloved breed.
